WHAT WOULD YOU GIVE UP FOR GLORY?

MIND THE GAP is a queer sports drama that retells the story of Joan of Arc as a transgender motorcycle racer competing in MotoGP. It stars two closeted queer athletes — both generational talents — at opposite moments in their careers, competing against one another as teammates.

The full graphic novel will be 300 pages, and blends the coming-of-age emotional sensibilities of Tillie Walden’s On A Sunbeam and Jillian and Mariko Tamaki’s Roaming with the propulsive action of Brian K. Vaughan’s Saga and Paper Girls.

LOGLINE: After the on track death of their rival, closeted nonbinary motorcycle racer Joanna “Ximo” Ibáñez is recruited to replace him as the first female competitor in the sport, where they must beat their childhood hero and new teammate Masashi Kaneko in order to secure a future in the sport they’ve sacrificed everything to participate in.
